Reviscon is a traditional viscoelastic joint gel injection containing sodium hyaluronate to replenish synovial fluid and restore lubricity. When injected into the joint, it forms a coating on the cartilage surface, reducing friction between bone ends and protecting cartilage from wear.
A course of Reviscon, usually weekly (3-5 injections), is effective in reducing the pain and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis. It improves the range of movement of the affected joint, making it easier for the patient to carry out daily activities. It aims to restore the shock-absorbing function of the synovial fluid in the long term, preventing further damage to the cartilage. The minimally invasive treatment can be performed on an outpatient basis and offers a safe alternative to long-term pain medication or surgery for early to moderate joint wear.
